Harley- Shih Tzu puppy

Harley came in for his puppy vaccination yesterday. 6 weeks old. 3 lbs. Shih Tzu puppy.

Meet Buddy.

This is Buddy.  He came in today.  He cut his leg open sometime over the weekend.   His owner didn't bring him in. A concerned neighbor did.   She really can't afford to be taking care of  dogs, other than her one, and her 2 cats.

About 8 weeks old. 12 lbs.  Lab Mix?

If the family keeps him, he'll likely get run over because they live close to the 4 lane highway.  That has been the fate of previous dogs.   The neighbor, my client, worries about them all the time.  Being elderly, that isn't good for her health. 

He's on antibiotics and has something to clean it with. It'll granulate and heal together pretty fast.  I'll probably call the animal control officer to make sure they get the Mom out of the puppy business.

It's a good thing Leon has connections.  And connections with access to anesthetic drugs, at that.

It has been 2 weeks today since Leon had his surgery.   To remove Herman.  I intentionally left his sutures in for 2 weeks.  Often times with young dogs and cats, sutures can come out in 7 days.  But I left Leon's in for 14 days.

And everything was perfect when they were removed. Well, for about 15 minutes.  And then this happened.   I'll link it, rather than post it, in case wound photos make anyone squeamish.
If you enjoyed biology class, this photo isn't a big deal.  Looks sort of like chicken. ;)

Here's what it looked like after I anesthetized him again, and sutured it closed.  About the same as 2 weeks ago.

So, these are staying in for at LEAST 2 weeks, and I might remove only 1 per day at that time.


In better news, Beethoven, an 8 week old Saint Bernard puppy, came in this afternoon for his puppy vaccination.  Well,  a vaccination, a tummy rub,  a treat, and a nap.

Roxie and Tillie- Boston Terriers

Yay!
Some friends of mine have an older Boston Terrier named Roxie. Roxie is a little over 11 years old. Roxie is quite the special little dog. Her one flaw might be that she thinks she's bigger than every other dog out there, and wants to attack them, with no consideration for size of the other animal. So, yeah, she's a little mental in that respect.

So, Roxie's owners decided to get a puppy since Roxie is getting on up there. They got Tillie about 5-6 weeks ago.

And I have been BEGGING for photos of them together (Roxie and Tillie) ever since. She did send this one of Tillie a month ago.

So Photos FINALLY arrived in my email today. FINALLY, lol. And it's a good thing as I was contemplating road trip to take my own photos. . . . and maybe steal Tillie while I was there. I was having back and forth issues about the latter. . . but I digress. . . .







Just ate up with cuteness.

Retriever Puppy -watercolor on Yupo

I finished this painting last night. Scroll back the previous posts and you can see the steps and reference pic. I think I need to keep this painting for my upcoming show in November at the State Botanical Gardens. 30% of the proceeds benefit the gardens, 20% benefits Sundown Surgery Fund at UGA Vet Med teaching hospital.
